Mount Holyoke is an independent, liberal arts college for women, founded in 1837 by Mary Lyon. It is a four-year, residential liberal arts college serving approximately 2,200 undergraduate students. As a women’s college that is gender diverse, Mount Holyoke welcomes applications from female, trans, and non binary students. The College admits qualified students with any disability and of any age, religion, sexual orientation, race, color, national origin, or Vietnam-era veteran status to all activities generally accorded or made available to students, and does not discriminate on the basis of these factors in the administration of its educational policies and programs.
Mount Holyoke was initially accredited in 1929. The College has been continuously accredited since, and is presently accredited at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. The College’s last Comprehensive accreditation review took place in 2017 and the Commission provided feedback then to the College in its June 2018 letter. An interim (fifth-year) report was submitted to the New England Commission on Higher Education in August 2022. The Commission formally accepted the report in March 2023, and provided feedback in a February 2023 letter.
Questions and comments about Mount Holyoke’s accreditation may be addressed to the President of the College through the College’s Accreditation Liaison Officer, Dr. Jane Couperus.
