Questions to ease homework stress

The school year has started, and with it, parental stress over homework.
finds that nearly 25 percent of parents think their children are given more homework than they can handle, while four in five parents said they have struggled to understand their kids’ homework.
Gwen Bass, director of the Teacher Leadership Programs in Professional and Graduate Education at , said that parents shouldn’t view homework time as inherently conflict-ridden.
“Research unequivocally demonstrates the profound benefits on educational outcomes that result when we join with our kids and communicate to them that we value their efforts, we are invested in the learning they do all day, and we tell them explicitly that we believe they have what it takes to be successful,” Bass said.
In an interview with NBC News Online, she suggested a series of questions parents can ask their children to help guide and assist them during homework time.
